Project Engineer, Systems Engineer

Cullerton Group has a new opportunity for Project Engineer 1. The work will be done onsite full-time in Mossville, IL (Tech Center – Building K) on first shift (7:00 AM–3:00 PM or 8:00 AM–4:00 PM). This is a long-term 12-month position that can lead to permanent employment with our client. Compensation is up to $38/hr + full benefits (vision, dental, health insurance, 401k, and holiday pay).

Cullerton Group is seeking a Project Engineer to support design engineering, project management, and supplier product application engineering focused on mobile hydraulic systems. This role involves evaluating technical solutions, leading cross-functional project activities, and supporting integration and optimization of hydraulic components into machine systems. The engineer will work closely with domestic and international teams, suppliers, and design groups to deliver technically sound and cost-effective solutions.

This position is ideal for an engineer with strong initiative, technical depth, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

• Estimate quantities, materials, equipment, and labor to determine project feasibility
• Lead design engineering and project management activities for hydraulic system integration
• Apply knowledge of hydraulic system architecture and component design fundamentals to define requirements
• Draft detailed component and system requirements documentation
• Evaluate multiple technical solutions and complete design analysis and verification activities
• Lead technical and commercial discussions with suppliers and internal engineering teams
• Review engineering drawings, specifications, and analytical reports
• Conduct technical design reviews and stakeholder approval meetings
• Coordinate project schedules, deliverables, and technical information protection
• Support supplier and product group collaboration, including limited domestic travel (0–25%)

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (any discipline)
• 2+ years of professional engineering experience (internships not accepted)
• Strong understanding of the product development lifecycle
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, technical drawings, and analytical reports
• Experience creating sketches, engineering drawings, and completing technical computations
• Proficiency with Creo and Microsoft Office tools
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Demonstrated initiative, leadership ability, and attention to detail

• Working knowledge of hydraulic components or hydraulic systems
• Experience working with suppliers and cross-functional engineering teams
• Ability to lead multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
