Transform the everyday with us! We are looking for a Test Engineer. This position will be based at Buffalo Grove, IL.As a functional test engineer at Siemens you will design, develop, and maintain equipment used to test the functionality of various products or components. This role is ideal for recent graduates or early-career professionals with a background in electrical engineering and a passion for hands‑on testing, diagnostics, and continuous improvement. You will support the validation and troubleshooting of electronic assemblies and contribute to the development of robust testing protocols in a collaborative, fast‑paced environment.
Asa Test Engineer, you will:
- Design and Development
- Create test equipment and fixtures tailored to specific products.
- Execute functional and integrity tests on electrical control systems and sub‑assemblies.
- Collaborate with design engineers to understand product specifications and testing requirements.
- Testing and Validation
- Conduct tests to validate the performance and functionality of products.
- Analyze test data to identify defects or areas for improvement.
- Report findings and suggest corrective actions.
- Maintenance and Calibration
- Provide guidance for regular maintenance and calibration of test equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability.
- Troubleshoot and repair equipment as needed.
- Documentation and Reporting
- Document test procedures, results, and any issues encountered.
- Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to improve test coverage and reliability.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, computer science, or a related field.
- 1+ years of experience with functional testing of electronic systems and basic failure analysis techniques.
- Experience working with tools such as LabVIEW, MATLAB, Python, or C++.
- An understanding of circuit board components and basic diagnostic methods.
- Eagerness to learn and grow in a dynamic engineering environment.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to convey complex technical information clearly and effectively.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Internship or co‑op experience in a manufacturing or testing environment.
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt (or willingness to obtain).
- ISO 9001:215 awareness or training.
- Experience with Agile development practices.
