Caterpillar’s Electrification & Energy Solutions (E&ES) Division will focus on delivering advanced electrified power train, zero‑emissions products/technologies, and the solutions and services associated with these technologies. Focus areas include batteries, fuel cells, motors, inverters, micro‑grid controllers, charging, energy storage systems, lifecycle solutions/services and integration of components for e‑Powertrain solutions across industries.

Job SummaryThe Electrification and Energy System Division is looking for an engineer to support the development of Caterpillar Advanced Power conversion systems. In this role, you will design and develop power conversion systems for Caterpillar advanced power products. Specific products include: off‑board DC chargers, automated and manual connection systems, bi‑directional inverters, and related controls/operational interfaces. This role will collaborate with cooling, battery, power conversion, and controls teams along with purchasing and validation teams.
In addition to technical collaboration this engineer will be responsible for the design and performance quality of charging systems from development through production.
Develop test plans, validation procedures, and documentation to ensure functional and performance compliance, taking full ownership of the assigned task.
Design, model, simulate power electronics systems.
Designing prototype, debugging, and fault analysis for power electronic systems hardware (Inverters/converters) , and optimize.
Collaborate with design engineers to ensure smooth transition from design to validation and production.
Collaborate with mechanical, PCB layout, and firmware engineers to develop and validate design.
Utilize laboratory equipment (oscilloscopes, power analyzers, thermal cameras, etc.) to conduct detailed analysis and root cause investigations.
Perform design validation under various operating conditions (temperature, voltage, load profile, EMI/EMC).
Interface with suppliers and internal manufacturing teams for design for testability (DFT) and design for manufacturing (DFM).
Maintain rigorous safety protocols during high‑voltage testing activities.
Analytical Thinking: Extensive experience and knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.
Effective Communications: Working knowledge and understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
Managing Multiple Priorities: Working knowledge of effective self‑management practices; ability to manage multiple concurrent objectives, projects, groups, or activities, making effective judgments as to prioritizing and time allocation.
Technical Excellence: Working knowledge knowledge of a given technology and various application methods; ability to develop and provide solutions to significant technical challenges.
