About the RoleThe Project Engineer (Civil) will support design, planning and delivery of civil projects across the Carmichael Mine, Bravus Rail Network and associated infrastructure. The role ensures civil engineering standards are maintained, designs and construction activities comply with specifications and regulatory requirements, and acts as the key interface between designers, construction teams and contractors. This is a site‑based role based in Bowen, offered on a maximum‑term contract from February 2026 to December 2026.
Responsibilities- Collaborate with multi‑disciplinary teams to develop civil project scopes, objectives and deliverables aligned with operational and strategic requirements.
- Undertake site investigations, feasibility studies and engineering assessments to support informed decision‑making.
- Prepare and/or oversee civil engineering designs, drawings, specifications and construction documentation, ensuring integration across disciplines.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders, consultants, contractors and regulators to secure required approvals and permits.
- Manage schedules, budgets and resources to deliver projects safely, on time and within budget.
- Review and monitor contractor quality management plans, ensuring compliance with design standards and performance requirements.
- Control, review and maintain quality documentation and as‑built records.
- Oversee construction activities through site inspections and contractor performance monitoring.
- Provide technical support to construction teams and contractors, including managing interfaces with designers and responding to RFIs.
- Support operations and maintenance teams during construction, commissioning and handover.
- Prepare progress reports, technical documentation and lessons learned for management review.
- Monitor industry developments and best practice to continuously improve project outcomes.
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in civil engineering design, construction and delivery on multi‑disciplinary projects.
- Demonstrated experience delivering complex projects safely, on time and within budget.
- Strong technical knowledge of civil systems, standards and methodologies relevant to mining and rail environments.
- Proficiency in project management tools and Microsoft Office.
- SARC – Safely Access the Rail Corridor (nationally accredited).
- RIW Card.
- Standard 11 Coal Induction and eligibility to be appointed as a supervisor on a coal mine.
- Experience in Queensland coal mining and rail industry.
- Project engineering experience in mining, heavy‑haul rail or major infrastructure environments.
- Current rail and coal medicals and certifications (S1, S2, S3, RIW).
