Job Description
As a Chemical Engineer II at Solstice Advanced Materials, you will work at the Metropolis site providing technical expertise to ensure the operation produces product that meets all quality, cost, and efficiency requirements of a 24/7 manufacturing facility. This role will identify ways to improve safety, quality, yields, and the capability of existing processes. Core challenges include leading continuous process improvement to drive Key Performance Indicators, meeting business goals, providing technical guidance to the operations team, assisting with process troubleshooting, and developing corrective action plans.
The Metropolis site manufactures Uranium Hexafluoride (UF6) as part of the overall nuclear fuel conversion cycle.
- Support operations in troubleshooting daily process issues as needed
- Perform root cause analysis and implement process changes/control plans to drive continuous improvement and improve baseline safety, quality, production, and cost performance
- Participate in site HSE and Process Safety Management programs, including Management of Change, Process Hazard Analysis, Root Cause Analysis, and Incident Investigations
- Identify and monitor Key Process Indicators to sustain optimal plant operations and deliver on production, yield, and cost targets
- Work closely with other site engineers to develop and implement innovative engineering solutions to improve OEE
- Mentor and train operations staff on unit design and intended/optimal operation
- Have a presence on the floor with front‑line workers to find solutions
- Utilize Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing tools to drive process improvements
- Develop capital project scopes of work and associated process packages to improve or maintain unit operations
YOU MUST HAVE
- Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering or mechanical engineering
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in the chemical industry
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a production or process engineering role within a PSM regulated chemical manufacturing facility
WE VALUE
- Certification in Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing
- Excellent computer literacy
- Experience with identifying process changes and recommendations
- Demonstrated analytical and problem‑solving skills
- Ability to work without guidance or supervision
- Working knowledge of RAGAGEP
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills with typical chemical process equipment
- Familiarity with HS&E regulations and life‑critical safety tools such as Lock‑out/Tag‑out, Line Break, and Hot Work permits and procedures
- Able to work safely among highly hazardous materials and wear all required PPE including chemical‑resistant clothing and respiratory protection, as required

CompensationThe annual base salary range for this position is $92,000 – $125,000. Solstice considers various factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education and training, key skills, and market and business considerations.
