Job Summary:
The Welding Technology Mechatronics (WTM) Manager oversees programming and automation projects. Primary responsibilities include producing control programs that meet equipment‑design performance requirements, establishing and executing project schedules, and ensuring each project meets customer scope and delivery expectations.
Essential Functions:
- Provide leadership and supervision for WTG programming/automation resources; ensure all equipment meets mechanical and electrical standards.
- Recommend and assist with system security for all remote welding equipment.
- Collaborate with internal divisions on new‑equipment functionality, define product scope, and contribute to cost estimates.
- Lead development of innovative product designs and provide technical problem‑solving guidance.
- Manage programming resource capacity plans and schedules; supply input to equipment design across all automation projects.
- Support the quality system and continuous‑improvement initiatives.
- Develop team members through mentoring and formal development plans.
- Work closely with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders throughout each project phase.
- Direct internal and contracted programming personnel, overseeing project scope, schedule, and quality.
- Maintain version control for all WTG software projects and document equipment/process changes.
- Travel domestically and internationally (up to ~20 %) for site visits and vendor assessments.
- Partner with vendors to improve quality, delivery, and cost.
- Provide troubleshooting and repair assistance for internally developed welding‑control systems.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of industrial‑automation experience.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to lead and coordinate a remote team.
- Demonstrated creativity in programming and automation solutions.
- Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects.
- Minimum 5 years of UI design experience.
- Extensive knowledge of LabVIEW and LabVIEW architectural designs.
- Detail‑oriented and self‑motivated.
