Collect samples from plant locations, including gaseous and liquid. Analyze samples using analytical instruments such as ion chromatographs, atomic absorption spectrometers, ICP & ICP-MS, colorimeters, and x-ray fluorescence analyzers. Analyze samples for radioactivity using gamma ray spectrometry and gross activity counting equipment. Recognize and correct adverse trends in quality control data, as well as chemistry data. Monitor the in‑line Chemistry instrumentation to maintain parameters within specified limits.
Communicate results of out of specification results to Chemistry Management and the Operations Shift. Maintain supplies of consumable materials, chemicals, and spare parts in the lab. Maintain / calibrate online chemistry monitors and lab instrumentation as directed.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Record and trend data from the chemical analysis.
- Notify chemistry management for out of specification conditions and adverse trends.
- Respond to operations chemistry needs.
- Support environmental sampling by obtaining, preparing, analyzing, and shipping samples off site, as required.
- Perform the on‑shift chemistry technician emergency plan duties.
- Perform inventories of chemicals, equipment, and supplies.
- Maintain the laboratory and instruments in top material condition with good housekeeping.
- Perform self‑monitoring of radiation dose equivalent and perform associated radiological surveys for chemistry related tasks.
- As required, to change out gas bottles for chemical and counting room instrument; to change resin columns for laboratory demineralized water systems; and to replace chart paper on recorders.
- Mechanical Cleaning of Equipment
- Paperwork (i.e., review and revise procedures, sign off work packages and surveillances, etc.)
- Obtain cable vault sampling
- Perform work in Radio logically Controlled Area and/or Contaminated Area as required
- High School diploma or GED
- Ability to pass pre‑employment EEI TECH testing
- Ability to receive unescorted Nuclear access
- Ability to transit to work location (Walk, Stairs, Ladders, Use Elevator, etc.)
- Manually carry, lift or handle material
