You'll be based in our laboratory in East Dundee, Illinois and under the guidance of our Director of Engineering.As a key member of our Engineering product development and certification team, you will acquire agency certifications and qualifications for Appleton’s world‑class products to ensure they are the toughest, most reliable, and safest in the global heavy industrial and hazardous electrical products industry!

You'll also be responsible for identifying the testing and performance requirements we need to ensure every new product launched into the market is worthy of Appleton’s century-long brand history and Emerson’s name on the label.

In this Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:
  • Work directly with certification agencies such as UL, CSA, and Interek to develop and coordinate test plans and sample requirements in order to acquire third‑party certifications.
  • Determine certification cost estimates and continuously work to streamline processes
  • Collaborate with engineering to ensure product designs meet industry‑standard requirements and prepare samples for certification testing.
  • Maintain compliance by ensuring product certifications remain up to date
  • Continuously monitor changes in standard requirements and how they impact our products. Recommend innovative approaches to improve product compliance.

This Role, You Will Need:
  • A Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a closely related field of study
  • 1+ years of experience with product test work within an engineering development organization
  • Ability to lift 40-pound boxes and products being evaluated within the lab facility and in completion of testing activities.
  • Willingness and ability to travel globally, up to 15% annually
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States
Preferred Qualifications that Set You Apart:
  • Experience with hazardous location certifications

Our compensation philosophy is simple:
We pay a competitive base salary, within the local market in which we operate, and reward performance during the annual merit review process. The total target comp range for this position is $90,000 - $130,000 annually, commensurate with the skills, talent, capabilities, and experience each candidate brings to a role.
