Senior Hydrogeologist
Help solve real‑world environmental challenges by applying hydrogeologic expertise and mentoring junior staff as part of SCS Engineers’ Upper Midwest consulting practice. This role offers flexibility, growth opportunities, and a collaborative environment.
Full‑time position based in our regional offices in Madison, Milwaukee, Green Bay, Chicago, Peoria, and Naperville, IL, with a flexible hybrid work model.
Responsibilities- Design and implement groundwater investigations and monitoring systems at MSW and CCR landfills and impoundments.
- Process and analyze hydrogeologic and geological data.
- Manage, interpret, and report groundwater monitoring data.
- Prepare technical reports, proposals, bid documents, health & safety plans, and other deliverables.
- Mentor and develop staff.
- Research technical data and regulations.
- Coordinate work with contractors, laboratories, and regulators.
- Pursue technical improvement for self and company.
- Deliver professional services on time and of high quality, following local and state regulations, SCS’s Quality Assurance Program, and project profitability targets.
- Make decisions independently or collaboratively on scientific problems and methods.
- Provide technical and operational direction to deliver positive outcomes.
- Communicate project status, schedules, and compliance issues to clients, third parties, and regulatory agencies.
- Follow client and corporate contract specifications in all activities, including health, safety, security, and environment.
- Manage projects: develop proposals, contract, lead teams, forecast, invoice, and account receivable.
- Assist with client development and business development activities.
- Master’s degree in hydrogeology or geology with graduate‑level hydrogeology coursework.
- 5–10 years of experience at an environmental consulting firm or related field.
- Experience implementing groundwater monitoring programs for MSW landfills and/or CCR sites.
- Experience with federal and state regulatory interpretation and compliance.
- Experience with statistical evaluations.
- P.G. license or ability to obtain within the first year.
- Experience with GIS and/or database management.
- Current OSHA 40‑hour HAZWOPER training (plus).
- Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
