Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Harness Design Engineer to support electrical systems and wiring harness development for construction and mining equipment. This role focuses on new product development, retrofit programs, and electrical integration, ensuring robust, manufacturable, and reliable designs.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with electrical systems and wiring harness design, CAD-based routing, and cross-functional engineering collaboration. The engineer will also serve as an onsite technical lead, coordinating with offshore engineering teams to deliver high-quality designs and documentation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop electrical systems, wiring harnesses, and cable assemblies for new equipment programs and retrofit kits.
  • Create harness routing solutions, including high- and low-voltage connectors, sensors, and controllers.
  • Integrate electrical components into machine platforms using CAD tools while ensuring proper fit, function, and manufacturability.
  • Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, systems, and manufacturing teams to develop reliable design solutions.
  • Gather technical requirements from stakeholders and translate them into actionable engineering work packages.
  • Serve as the onsite technical lead, coordinating activities and assigning work to offshore engineering teams.
  • Review and validate engineering designs, drawings, and documentation produced by offshore resources.
  • Prepare detailed engineering documentation, including Bills of Materials (BOMs), connector tables, wiring specifications, and schematics.
  • Support equipment builds testing, troubleshooting, and validation activities.
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable industry standards, environmental requirements, and engineering best practices.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Proven experience in electrical systems and wiring harness design and development.
  • Experience supporting both new product development and retrofit programs.
  • Strong understanding of electrical routing, sensors, connectors, and electrical integration for heavy equipment.
  • Ability to interpret electrical schematics and engineering drawings.
  • Strong communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage technical activities and collaborate with teams across multiple locations.
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • Proficiency in Creo CAD for 3D modeling and wiring harness design.
  • Previous experience with CAT Harness Design.
  • Knowledge of electromagnetic compatibility and interference (EMC/EMI) standards.
  • Familiarity with wiring harness design best practices and heavy-equipment electrical systems.
  • Experience working with global engineering teams and offshore engineering delivery models.
