Job Description
A Field Accountant’s position is to assure the smooth and efficient operation of timekeeping functions, precise employee tracking, prompt and accurate handling of all items related to payroll and union fringes.
Responsibilities- Process and issue employee paychecks, statements of earnings and deductions.
- Compute wages and deductions and enter data into computers.
- Compile employee time, production, and payroll data from timesheets and other records.
- Review timesheets, work charts, wage computations, and other information to detect and reconcile payroll discrepancies.
- Verify attendance, hours worked, and pay adjustments, and post information onto designated records.
- Record employee information, such as exemptions, transfers, and resignations, to maintain and update payroll records.
- Issue and record adjustments to pay related to previous errors or retroactive increases.
- Keep informed about changes in tax and deduction laws that apply to the payroll process.
- Provide information to employees and managers on payroll matters, tax issues, benefit plans, and collective agreement provisions.
- Job role has budgetary type of accountabilities or directly impacts a revenue center’s viability or its quality of service via personal contributions.
- Job role contributes directly to value creation.
- Union fringes for the whole company.
- Perform minor HR responsibilities.
- Perform other related duties as required and assigned.
- Create purchase orders for consumables and third‑party items.
- Communicate/coordinate with vendors to ensure timely receipt of invoices.
- Coordinate with Corporate AP to ensure timely processing of vendor invoices.
- Ability to learn and navigate Madison and Customer systems to perform job‑related tasks.
- Prepare and support customer invoicing.
- Data entry of timesheets into Madison and Customer systems, as applicable.
- Maintain orderly filing systems for Personnel, Accounts Payable, and Accounts Receivable records.
- Must possess excellent computer skills in all MS Suite applications.
- HR experience.
- Advanced experience with union regulations/reporting.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills required.
- Must be able to accept instructions/delegation and perform in a fast‑paced, high‑pressure setting.
- Strict confidentiality of all Human Resources and Financial information is required.
- Must be able to use discretionary authority while working.
- Detail oriented work requiring a high degree of confidentiality.
- Require thorough knowledge of standard office practices and procedures.
- Requires thorough knowledge of all office machines and equipment.
- Work is primarily sedentary; exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.

- High School Diploma (Associates degree preferred) and 3 years office experience with a proven facility in data entry, customer service, and problem resolution. The equivalent combination of education and experience is acceptable.
- Basic reading, writing, math and strong verbal communication skills.
- Ability to pass a pre‑employment background and drug test.
- Ability to pass a Motor Vehicle check (drive company vehicles occasionally).
