Position: SUPERVISORY HISTORIAN with Security Clearance
Location: Scott Air Force Base

Duties
* Plans, organizes, and directs the activities of AMC/HO, ensuring that historians and museum curators comply with legal and regulatory requirements and meets customer needs.
* Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities.
* Represents Air Mobility Command with a variety of installation and functional area organizations.
* Develops and manages the command history, heritage, and museums program. Requirements Conditions of employment

* At a minimum, qualification requirements stipulated by the US Office of Personnel Management (OPM) for the
-0170 occupational series must be met.
* If authorized, PCS will be paid IAW JTR and AF Regulations. If receiving an authorized PCS, you may be subject to completing/signing a CONUS agreement. More information on PCS requirements, may be found at:  
* This position is subject to provisions of the DoD Priority Placement Program
* Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft/vehicle to conferences, meetings, or functions away from the duty office/location.
* This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Demand Reduction Program. Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing. (cont'd) * (cont'd) Illegal drug use by employees in sensitive positions presents a clear threat to the mission of the Air Force, national security, and public safety.

* Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI).

* The duties of this position require the employee to operate a motor vehicle. An appropriate, valid driver's license is required.
* The duties of this position meet all requirements as a category 4 designation, and shall not be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization without seriously impairing the capability of the parent (cont'd) * (cont'd) Federal Agency or office to function effectively. This position must be removed from the Ready Reserve and cannot become a member of the Ready Reserve.

(IAW: DoDD 1200.7, "Screening the Ready Reserve.")
* This is a Mission-Essential position performing a Mission-Critical-Function which must continue uninterrupted after the occurrence of an emergency and continued through full resumption of all functions.
* The employee may be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
* Mobility is a condition of employment. The employee must sign an Air Force-wide mobility agreement.
* This is a Centrally Managed Position in the History and Museum Career Field. * "This is a Supervisory Position." A 1 year supervisory probationary period is required if applicant selected has not previously met this requirement. Qualifications Conditions of Employment (cont'd):
* This position is a "Key" position. It cannot be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization without impairing the capability of the organization to- function effectively. Unless an alternate can be designated to perform the duties of this position during wartime, the incumbent of this "Key" position must be screened from military recall status. In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Professional and Scientific Position, History Series, 0170.

BASIC REQUIREMENT OR INDIVIDUAL OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENT:
Degree: history; or related field that included at least 18 semester hours in history. OR Combination of education and experience: courses equivalent to a major in history, or a major in a related field that included at least 18 semester hours in history, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. SPECIALIZED

EXPERIENCE:

Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-13 , or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes knowledge of the policies, principles, concepts, guidance, procedures, techniques, and methodologies pertaining to the MAJCOM History and Museums Program;
Knowledge of the mission, roles, functions, organizational structures, and operation of DoD and Air Force organizations to provide command level staff guidance and History and Museums Program information. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS:
Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-13 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-14 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks.
