Plans Examiner I - Building Department

Under supervision of the Building Official, performs technical plans exam work evaluating, interpreting, investigating, and enforcing construction and development codes and related laws and ordinances to ensure public health, safety, and welfare. Work involves extensive communication across the City’s departments and with homeowners and related professionals.
Position is an entry level classification. The examiner performs work under supervision of department staff. The work is routine and requires limited knowledge, focusing exclusively on residential construction. Enforcement responsibility is restricted to residential construction.
Full‑time with benefits – Non exempt. Salary $22.10 per hour starting wage. Wage range $22.10–$29.84, DOE.
