About the Savanna Community Ambulance Association
The Savanna Community Ambulance Association is a not-for-profit association that contracts EMS services to both the City of Savanna and the Savanna Fire Protection District. The Association is licensed by the Illinois Department of Public Health as a paramedic-level service, operating under the OSF Northern Illinois EMS system (St. Anthony Medical Center, Rockford, Illinois).
Role Description
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) for a full-time, on-site role based in Savanna, IL.
Hours:
Applicants must be able and willing to work Monday through Thursday from 6 am to 4 pm.
7 paid holidays.
120 hours of PTO.
Responsibilities and Expectations:
- Drive ambulances to and from emergency scenes and hospitals.
- Operate ambulance equipment and respond to radio transmissions.
- Quickly evaluate a patient's condition, including performing physical exams and monitoring vital signs.
- Provide first aid and/or life support to patients.
- Prepare patients for and safely transport them to the emergency department of a hospital or other healthcare facility.
- Report observations and any treatment provided to physicians, nurses, or other healthcare staff.
- Write and submit concrete and accurate reports on incidents.
- Inventory and replace medical supplies and clean equipment after use.
- Ensure that ambulances are maintained and ready for use at all times.
- Adhere to established medical protocols and procedures as well as legal guidelines and health and safety standards.
- Stay up to date with new treatments and medical procedures through continuous training.
- Maintain a clean office and ambulance bays.
- Keep outdoor pads and sidewalks clear of snow, ice, and debris.
- Attend monthly Association meetings and trainings.
- Adhere to all bylaws set forth by the Savanna Community Ambulance Association.
- Maintain a clean and complete uniform and good personal hygiene.
- Demonstrate a professional and polite demeanor to all persons with whom you come in contact while on duty.
- Perform standby coverage at special events, as needed.
- Actively participate in Association activities such as fundraisers, parades, and other community events.
- Assist the EMS Director with other duties as assigned.
Qualification:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required
- Current IL EMT License
- Current CPR certification
- One year of EMT experience
- Fluency in spoken and written English
- Must possess a valid driver's license
- Ability to bend, pull, push, and lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions
- Ability to exercise sound judgment while working in a stressful environment
