Cardiac Sonographer – Permanent Position – Peoria, IL
Position Summary
This is a full-time, permanent staff role (not a travel contract) . Under the direction of a cardiologist or qualified provider, the Cardiac Sonographer performs high-quality echo cardiographic exams to support the diagnosis and treatment of cardiac conditions. The position provides patient-focused care while adhering to ALARA principles, professional standards, and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform transthoracic, stress, and (when applicable) transesophageal echocardiograms with precision and consistency.
- Optimize imaging quality and ensure accurate measurements and documentation.
- Collaborate with physicians and clinical team members to support timely and accurate cardiac diagnostics.
- Maintain complete and accurate records, preliminary findings, and digital imaging data.
- Operate equipment safely and in compliance with ALARA guidelines and departmental protocols.
- Provide clear communication and compassionate care to patients throughout the procedure.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, competency verification, and ongoing education.
Qualifications
- Completion of an accredited Diagnostic Cardiac Sonography program or equivalent clinical experience.
- ARDMS (RDCS) or CCI (RCS) registry required or registry-eligible with ability to obtain within established time frames.
- Current BLS certification.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, technical proficiency, and the ability to work independently.
Preferred Experience
- Prior experience conducting a variety of echo cardiographic studies in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
- Familiarity with EMR and PACS imaging systems.
