Location: OregonOverview
We are seeking a full-time Senior Database Administrator in our Olathe, KS location. In this role, you will be responsible for performing and planning management and administration of technology in area of specialty, working with team members to ensure technology is effectively supporting enterprise systems, and sharing knowledge and providing mentoring to other IT associates.
Essential Functions
Analyze existing database systems and recommend improvementsWork with IT Manager to establish database security structures, Sox complianceCreate/maintain database access systems including tables, indexes, views, stored procedures, and triggersAdminister database replication between servers, across Local Area Network and Wide Area NetworkTune and optimize database objectsProvide 24x7 on call supportProvide technical input to solution development plans and concept documentsDemonstrate understanding of business impacts of issues and how they relate to IT owned solutionsCommunicate effectively in written and verbal form in a cross-functional setting with business partnersShare knowledge and actively mentor less experienced IT Administrators (Administrator 1 &
2)Perform/plan major version upgradesDesign/implement effective monitoring of enterprise systemsTune systems using experience and deep knowledge of areaForesee risks and communicate/mitigate those before problems ariseDocument technical designs and procedures for team libraryPlan/manage technical projects involving other teamsCommunicate technology effectively to non-technical associates and managementRecognize/understand technology impacts within the businessContribute to technical research on new technologies, processes or procedures with a desire to continuously learn new technologiesParticipate in project definition activities including estimation of deliveryBasic Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Business or another related field AND a minimum of 5 years relevant experience OR equivalent combination of education and relevant experienceExperience with Big Data Technologies supporting a broad variety of solutions including HDFS, Kubernetes, Kafka, Elastic, SQL Server.Experience with Relational or No
SQL database technologiesDemonstrated ability to implement new technologies effectivelyDemonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills in a small team settingConsistently demonstrates quality and effectiveness in work documentation and organizationGarmin International is an equal opportunity employer.
