Location: Scott Air Force Base
Duties as a it specialist (plcypln) (title 32), gs-2210-9, you will assist the senior policy and planning specialist by performing the less complex tasks associated with the planning, development, management, and enforcement of approved ang and local information technology (it) and communications architecture. Major duties - this is not an all-inclusive list:
* analyze requirements and recommends plans of action for improving assigned it applications.
* analyze assigned portions of plans and specifications, prepare justifications for new or enhanced information technology.
* analyze it system development as it relates to the organization and ensures policy and guidance are available for its use, that necessary controls are in place, and systems operate as intended and provide all necessary capabilities.
* assess policy needs and reviews, revises, and develop recommended changes to existing policies to govern it activities.
* implement methods, procedures, policies, and techniques concerning telecommunication systems.
* perform work involved in developing, refining, and complying with assigned portions of the telecommunications systems planning and policy direction primarily involving short- and long-range plans.
* review requests for communication services, develop budgetary justifications, recommend changes to assigned segments of networks/systems designs, prepare/review equipment and facility specifications, monitor/resolve technical communications problems, and/or conduct operational acceptance tests.
* adhere to management control plan requirements by conducting self-inspection and staff assistance visits.
* analyze areas of concern, identify problems, and resolve the less complex conflicts through persuasive discussions with management and user representatives.
* recommend adjustments to it priorities to meet changing business needs, program plans, goals and objectives.
* consult with base officials and working groups, customers and other organization personnel on it and communications concerns. Requirements conditions of employment

* this is an excepted service position that requires membership in the illinois national guard and in the military grade listed in the announcement. * irregular and/or overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day.
* must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance of the position.
* participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
* this position conducts information assurance functions. The incumbent shall comply with the requirements of the certification program and will be required to obtain and maintain certification. Certification requirements are outlined in dod instruction 8570.01-m.
* must be certified iaw dod 8570.01-m, federal information security management act of 2002, clinger cohen act of 1996 and current af directives. Qualifications area of consideration: the areas of consideration for this position, title 32 excepted service (32 u.s. Code § 709), will be in the following manner and sequence:
* the first area of consideration for this position will be all excepted permanent and indefinite temporary technicians within the ilng.
* the second area of consideration will be all current federal employees.
* the third area of consideration will be all federal re-employment eligible.
* the fourth area of consideration will be applicants willing to become t32 dual status technicians and gain ilng membership.
