Location:
St. Louis, with regular local travel throughout the Midwest.
Compensation: ~ 100k Base + Benefits (Health, Vision, Dental (including orthodontics), Life insurance)
The Supply Chain Manager will lead the development and management of our raw material supply chain and strategic roadmap to bring world‑changing ingredients to market for the largest global pet food manufacturers and the highest growth pet food startups.
As the Supply Chain Manager, you will play a leading role in building a best‑in‑class next‑generation ingredient processing and distribution enterprise. You will be instrumental in developing an aligned organization across the supply chain from receiving ingredients through shipping to customers, maintaining the cold chain throughout the process. Your first area of focus will be to design and manage vendor identification, vetting, pricing, and retention strategy that will enable Chippin to deliver on more than #10M in sales in the first 12 months of active site operations and grow to >
100M. Throughout this process, you will collaborate with finance, manufacturing, quality, R&D, and engineering to ensure the integrity of the cold chain, keep time to processing to a minimum, ensure product traceability, and ensure enterprise resource planning systems are updated to facilitate smooth shipping and invoicing.
This role will be filled by an ambitious leader who can cross‑functionally collaborate with internal and external teams to achieve our mission of powering the pet food supply chain with 100% traceable, sustainable, and high‑quality ingredients.
Responsibilities- Supply Chain: Collaborate with Operations leadership and CEO to develop and grow procurement procedures, smart pricing models, and seamless integration with manufacturing.
- Ensure the safety of the logistics team during remote operations at catch points and inside the facility.
- Strategic Planning: Support in creating the supply chain/operations strategy that will enable sustained multi‑year growth after our high impact, high visibility launch.
- Leadership: Provide direction and management support to 15+ members of the operations team—including quality assurance, supply chain, manufacturing, and logistics—and serve as a senior leader overseeing 100+ contract fishers.
- Implementation: Implement Enterprise Resource Planning processes to ensure product traceability, product quality, inventory management, shipping, and invoicing. Ensure compliance with FDA cold chain requirements for seafood.
- Finance/Special Projects: Work with CEO on fundraise; roadmap high value new potential ingredients.
- Partnerships: Engage periodically with state/local/federal governmental agencies, and mission‑oriented donors and investors.
- Plan and oversee processes across procurement, cold chain, shipping and receiving while maintaining quality to support top and bottom line management.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, or Finance. MBA preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of related experience;
Related experience within a fast‑paced food or beverage manufacturing environment is preferred. - Relevant experience managing Sales and Operations Planning.
- Experience with optimization of supply chains (supply and demand management) in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
- Experience with working capital optimization and inventory modeling, supply and demand balancing/planning are preferred.
- Familiarity with seasonality management in product demand and associated inventory management is a plus.
- Experience with Microsoft Excel; ERP implementation experience preferred.
- Superior organizational, communication (written and verbal), interpersonal, analytical, research, and presentation skills.
- Aptitude to learn, understand, and work with a significant amount of process detail in a logical, detail‑oriented manner.
- Ability to work in a self‑directed, autonomous manner, including motivation and aptitude to utilize existing documentation to independently learn and understand the intricacies and operation of the complex web of programs and systems involved in the Forecasting process.
- Diligence to conduct a multitude of sequential tasks each month with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail.
