Operations & Maintenance Technician II – CAMS
The Tilton Energy Center is a natural gas peaker plant with an 188 MW output. The Operations & Maintenance (O&M) Technician II ensures safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the Tilton Energy Center. This role involves monitoring plant systems, responding to alarms, performing start‑up and shutdown procedures, and maintaining compliance with operational standards. The technician also supports maintenance and repair of instruments, control systems, and electrical equipment across the plant.
Key Responsibilities- Operate gas‑fired turbines, generators, and auxiliary systems, including start‑up and shutdown procedures.
- Monitor and record operational data to maintain safe performance within prescribed limits.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on major equipment and emergency backup systems.
- Maintain accurate equipment files, logs, diagrams, and technical documentation.
- Manage spare parts inventory and assist with physical inventory counts.
- Update and maintain plant operating manuals, technical references, and maintenance records.
- Safely operate plant equipment (e.g., vehicles, cranes, hoists) and adhere to all safety protocols.
- Interpret complex blueprints, wiring diagrams, and perform switching/tagging under supervision.
- Complete required documentation for maintenance, outages, time reports, and material requisitions.
- Support plant management with additional tasks as needed.
- Education:
High School diploma or equivalent (Associate degree in a technical field preferred). - Experience:
Minimum 2 years as an Assistant Plant Operator or equivalent in a power generation facility. - Certifications:
Must complete O&M Technician qualification within 90 days of hire. - Skills:
Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams; familiarity with plant operations software and tools.
- Exposure to varied outdoor environments, including extreme weather, high noise levels, hazardous areas, and diverse work surfaces.
- Frequent use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, safety glasses, respirators, ear protection, chemical suits, hot gloves, and high‑voltage protective gear.
- Working near high‑voltage equipment and operating heavy machinery, with proper training and safety protocols.
- Entry into confined spaces and potentially hazardous environments, often accompanied by exposure to loud machinery and equipment.
- Physical activities including walking, standing for extended periods, crawling, stooping, sitting, climbing vertical and inclined ladders/stairs, operating large valves, and performing tasks requiring up to 50 lbs of pulling, turning, lifting, or carrying.
- Exposure to extreme heat and cold.
- Manual dexterity and hand‑eye coordination for operating switches, push buttons, and other controls.
- Visual acuity requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Participation in a post‑offer physical examination and drug screening, as well as ongoing random drug testing.
- Compliance with strict smoking restrictions in and around the facility.
Applicants must possess a valid driver’s license and maintain a clean driving record, as this position requires occasional travel for company business. Candidates should be comfortable operating a vehicle as part of their job responsibilities and must meet any applicable company and insurance requirements.

Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors, including but not limited to skills, experience, and relevant qualifications. This range represents the base salary and does not include other forms of compensation, such as bonuses, benefits, or equity, which may be offered in addition to the base pay.
