Job Description & How to Apply Below
Company Summary

Our client is a well-established, family-oriented manufacturer that builds precision metal products. They run a temperature-controlled facility and value a close-knit, dependable team, stable employment, and real work-life balance.

Job Summary

Our client is hiring a senior-level large part CNC machinist/programmer for first shift. There is a gap in programming and process expertise, and this hire will close it by getting the most out of a large twin-column vertical machining center with interchangeable heads and tooling. The role includes hands-on machining, setups, and programming, and can be or will grow into a technical lead position over the facility's three large machines.

The lead would standardize programming, setups, and production methods across that area.

Responsibilities
  • Perform full setups and operate large vertical milling equipment
  • Program new jobs and make significant modifications to existing programs
  • Troubleshoot issues outside standard production routines, including using probing and restarting programs at intermediate points
  • Safely handle large, heavy parts and operate cranes and related material-handling equipment
  • Develop and standardize processes, setups, and programming practices across multiple large machines
  • Work closely with operators, production personnel, and peers to improve machine utilization
  • Over time, help expand the use of offline programming
Requirements
  • Large vertical milling experience, including parts of roughly 800-1,500+ lbs and up to 12-14 feet long
  • Milling experience (lathe-only backgrounds will not qualify)
  • Minimum FANUC control experience
  • Ability to program or make significant program changes
  • Full setup capability and safe crane/material-handling experience
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach
  • Comfortable working hands-on in the machine area while contributing at a programming, setup, and technical level
  • Must be able to work on-site, first shift
Preferred Requirements
  • Okuma control experience
  • Experience on large Okuma machines
  • CAD/CAM experience, with Fusion preferred
  • Offline programming experience
  • Experience leading, training, or standardizing processes across multiple machines
Compensation/Benefits
  • $30-$45 per hour depending on programming and machining capability
  • Overtime available and paid, but not routinely required
  • Stable employment with a strong emphasis on work-life balance
Location

Loves Park, Illinois. This is an on-site role, not remote. First shift runs 7:00 AM-3:30 PM.
