Schedule: Monday–Friday | 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM

Job Summary

Don’s Welding & Processing is seeking an experienced Fabricator / Welder to join our team in Loves Park, IL.

We are looking for a skilled, dependable individual who can read blueprints, lay out and fit components accurately, and produce high-quality welded assemblies.

Our priority is hands-on fabrication ability. The ideal candidate can take a job from blueprint through layout, fitting, welding, and final inspection with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities

• Read and interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, and job specifications.
• Lay out, measure, cut, fit, and assemble metal components according to print specifications.
• Perform MIG and TIG welding on mild steel and stainless steel, including 304 and 316 stainless.
• Set up and fit components accurately before welding.
• Operate grinders, saws, hand tools, power tools, and other fabrication equipment.
• Use tape measures, squares, calipers, and other measuring instruments to verify dimensions.
• Inspect completed weldments for accuracy, fit, appearance, and workmanship.
• Identify and correct fabrication, fit-up, and welding issues.
• Maintain quality standards while meeting production schedules.
• Follow company safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area.
• Work independently and collaboratively with other shop personnel.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of metal fabrication experience.
• Minimum 2 years of MIG welding experience.
• Minimum 2 years of TIG welding experience.
• Strong ability to read and interpret fabrication blueprints and shop drawings.
• Experience laying out, fitting, and assembling fabricated metal components.
• Experience working with mild steel and stainless steel.
• Ability to accurately measure and work to specified tolerances.
• Understanding of proper welding techniques and fabrication processes.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
• Dependable, punctual, and safety-conscious.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and use appropriate lifting equipment for heavier materials.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience fabricating components using 304 and 316 stainless steel.
• Experience producing custom fabricated weldments.
• Welding certifications or technical training are a plus but are not required.

Compensation & Benefits

$22.00 – $25.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
