This role is a Certified Nursing Assistant position focusing on medical unit weekend day care. The role provides personal care and assistance to re-establish ADLs under RN/LPN supervision.

Base pay range

$18.00/hr - $22.00/hr

General Summary

The Nursing Assistant is a non-professional staff member who provides personal care and assistance to patients to re-establish ADL under supervision of the Registered Nurse/Licensed Practical Nurse. Care follows a plan of care prescribed by the physician and written by the RN.

Principle Duties And Responsibilities
  • Collect patient care data and response to nursing care.
  • Review care plans with RN/LPN and identify potential changes.
  • Evaluate effectiveness of care and report to primary RN/LPN.
  • Demonstrate competence in selected psychomotor skills.
  • Implement measures to meet patient/SO learning needs.
  • Perform documentation duties in patient record timely, accurately and concisely.
  • Show awareness and sensitivity to patient/SO rights per Patient Bill of Rights.
  • Apply safety issues and protocols as identified by the institution.
  • Act efficiently in emergency situations following established protocols.
  • Maintain knowledge base and actions for designated patient population.
  • Exhibit self-responsibility and accountability within scope of hospital policies.
  • Participate in staff development and orientation activities.
  • Show self-directed learning and pursue continuing education.
  • Seek validation of knowledge and assertively seek guidance.
  • Be aware of legal issues in patient care and unit functions.
  • Contribute to development and attainment of unit and division nursing goals.
  • Participate in unit and division nursing PI activities.
  • Use effective communication methods and skills with all members of the health care team.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with patients/SO and staff.
  • Remain flexible in staffing patterns and resolve staffing conflicts.
