ONCOLOGY INFUSION NURSE- JOB DESCRIPTION:
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Oncology Infusion Nurse to provide high-quality care to cancer patients receiving infusion therapies. The ideal candidate will have experience in oncology nursing, particularly with administering chemotherapy and other intravenous medications. This role involves working closely with oncologists, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure that patients receive the best possible care during their treatment process.
Education&
Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited professional nursing education program (BSN preferred).
- Entry-level nursing position requiring 0-3 years of experience, preferably in an oncology setting.
- Preferred experience and knowledge of cancer treatment medications. Chemotherapy infusion experience is a plus.
- Current RN state license from the relevant IL State Board of Nursing.
- Current BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support) certification is required within 3 months of hire.
- Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM / 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM (In-Person).
- Hematology/Oncology.
- Hinsdale, IL 60521 & New Lenox, IL 60451 (In-Person).

- Assess and monitor patients using appropriate technical skills under the supervision of a physician.
- Implement patient care plans in alignment with established standards, guidelines, protocols, and procedures based on current and potential issues.
- Assist with medical procedures as needed.
- Take full responsibility for patient care related to infusion therapy.
- Able to work independently.
- Ensure smooth and efficient patient flow.
- Demonstrate understanding of reimbursement procedures and charge capture.
- Perform venipuncture, access implanted ports, and manage central venous access devices, as well as other alternative delivery systems.
- Document all aspects of patient care accurately and thoroughly.
- Communicate important information and interventions to the physician or mid-level provider.
- Serve as a resource to medical assistants.
- Triages patient and family phone calls, documenting relevant details in the patient’s chart.
- Assess patient and family needs, providing necessary education.
- Demonstrate awareness of community resources and assist with referrals as needed.
- Provide nursing support for satellite offices when required.
- Follow OSHA guidelines for handling cytotoxic agents, biohazardous waste, and materials potentially contaminated with blood borne pathogens.
- Stay current on oncology nursing practices through continuous educational opportunities.
- Participate in professional development activities and maintain professional affiliations.
- Ensure patient confidentiality at all times.
- Report any variances or discrepancies in care.
