Location: Naperville
Bring Joy to Hospice Patients with Pet Therapy
Residential Hospice is looking for volunteers with certified pet therapy dogs to visit our patients in hospice care. Through the natural bond between humans and animals, pet therapy provides joy, humor, love, and companionship, reducing loneliness and anxiety and encouraging socialization.
As a volunteer, you will bring your trained dog to our patients, witnessing the amazing impact of animal companionship on those at the end‑of‑life journey. This experience offers your dog meaningful work while receiving lots of loving attention.
Responsibilities:
- Visit nursing homes or hospice care settings with your pet therapy dog.
- Mingle with patients in a calming, supportive manner to provide companionship.
- Collaborate with hospice staff to schedule visits and adhere to safety protocols.
Qualifications:
- Must have a certified pet therapy dog.
- Dog must be well‑trained, friendly, and comfortable around patients.
Volunteer Details:
- Volunteer position; no salary.
- Locations include Westmont, IL – and potentially other regions.
