Mortgage Field Services Inspector

FAR Inspections is looking for highly motivated individuals to perform residential occupancy verifications on behalf of mortgage lenders. Independent contractors earn predictable full‑time or supplemental income with a flexible schedule. No prior mortgage inspection experience is required; time management and meeting deadlines are essential. Based in Reno, NV, FAR Inspections has been in business for over nine years.

The purpose of the property inspection is to verify property occupancy and report on general condition of the property using a mobile application. Most inspections are exterior only; about 10% require interior photos after the property has gone vacant.

• Complete each inspection within 4 days of assignment; most common type takes only 5–6 minutes.
• Report general property conditions and make a determination of occupancy based on industry standards.
• Take 9+ photos of the property with brief comments.
• Complete a short form in an app.
• Spend extended periods driving while making numerous stops during the day within the assigned county territory.

• Computer with internet connection.
• Reliable vehicle (good gas mileage preferred; you pay for your own gas).
• Smartphone (Android or iPhone).
• Printer.
• Pass a standard background check using a valid driver’s license.

This is a 1099 position. Each inspection has a flat rate, which varies by county and volume. Although paid per inspection, the equivalent rate is approximately $30–$40 per hour
. Depending on the county and whether it is urban or rural, you may complete anywhere from 20 to 500 inspections per month, working 2–30 hours per week. Lower‑volume counties have higher rates, higher‑volume counties have lower rates. Work is consistent month to month, and earnings can increase as you become established, have greater availability, or cover a larger territory.
No additional mileage reimbursement above the flat fee per inspection.
