Regional Indie Sales Manager

Sourcebooks is looking for an experienced Regional Indie Sales Manager to join our growing internal sales team. This role will be responsible for expanding Sourcebooks' reach, sales, and market share in the territory of Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Oklahoma, Texas. Candidates must reside in Texas.

Salary range: $60,000 – $70,000 annually.

What You'll Do
  • Grow sales in the independent bookstore market to exceed sales plans and increase market share.
  • Grow POS volume to assigned goals.
  • Represent Publisher with in-person sales calls multiple times a year and participate in regional and national trade shows.
  • Establish and grow relationships with key independent bookstores, the ABA, and regional independent bookstore associations.
  • Expand number of independent bookstore accounts ordering directly from Sourcebooks.
  • Curate individual title lists to fit the unique nature of each bookstore.
  • Reintroduce Sourcebooks essential backlist titles to the independent book market.
  • Secure prime placement, bookseller reviews, indie next nominations for Sourcebooks titles.
  • Create regional and national bestsellers within the channel.
  • Perform inventory forecasting and revenue budgeting.
  • Partner with Retail Marketing on sales promotions for independent bookstores.
  • Manage author events and book signings within your territory.
What You Bring
  • Minimum 3 years book publishing sales experience, preferably with independent bookstores.
  • Excellent presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Goal‑oriented, collaborative, with high attention to detail.
  • Proactive in pursuing new business and client relationships.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage many projects simultaneously.
  • Experience setting and driving sales strategy to meet goals.
  • Proficient in MS Office programs, sales reporting, and analysis.
  • Experience in forecasting and budgeting.
  • Extensive travel required, including overnight and occasional weekends.
  • Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
