Job Overview
Diesel Mechanic – Permanent, Full Time – Senior Level – Ryder Supply Chain Solutions – Arthur, Illinois
Responsibilities- Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties including preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and complex repairs.
- Diagnose complex mechanical and electronic problems utilizing diagnostic computer when applicable.
- Complete detailed mechanical inspections & repairs with minimal supervision.
- Replicate defective components as instructed and work unsupervised on most tasks.
- Maintain facility maintenance duties and interact with customers/drivers to determine nature of complaint.
- Utilize shop management system and electronic documentation available.
- Act as mentor for Tech 1 and Tech 2 levels and complete required training courses.
- Support operations including Service Island support and OEM on-line diagnostic scan tool courses.
- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
- Vocational or technical certification post-secondary degree or other technical certifications (preferred).
- Three (3) years or more relevant work experience (preferred).
- Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A (preferred).
- Valid CDL within 6 months of hire if required.
- Basic tools required.
- Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines.
- Basic diagnostics and repairs, including AC and electrical systems.
- Computer skills: PC, Windows, mouse, etc.
- Must obtain required background checks, drug test, DOT physical, and road test.
- Hourly pay $31.00 per hour.
- Certification bonus up to $700 for new ASE certification.
- Quarterly bonus up to $500 every quarter.
- Schedule:
Wednesday – Saturday, First Shift 5:00 am – 3:30 pm. - Annual merit pay increases every year.
