Overview
General Summary of Position:
Work will consist of installation, alterations, additions and/or repairs of electrical systems, conductors and associated materials and equipment within the commercial and industrial electrical industry.
- Perform all electrical tasks with or without general supervision.
- Read blueprints, terminate cable, install and troubleshoot control wiring from drawings.
- Demonstrate experience factors exceeding an electrical helper and sufficient on rough‑in work.
- Wire and conduit sizing.
- Switchgear installation and termination.
- Layout and preparation for installation.
- Underground layout and rough‑in.
- Practice and comprehend safe work procedures.
- Operate trenchers, scissor lifts, lift trucks in a safe manner.
- Read and interpret maps, instructional manuals, specifications, work site directions, blue prints and written instructions.
- Operate cable cutters, hammer drills, compression tools, jack hammers.
- Capable of digging trenches, either by use of hand tools or power equipment.
- Work from all type ladders (step ladders up to 14', "A" frame ladders and all size extension ladders and carry and relocate up to 12' step ladder by one's self).
- Perform work at various heights, from ladders, scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks or other safe work areas.
- Able to work 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week, overtime as required and night shifts.
- Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, crawl, climb, kneel, balance, push, pull and reach over head.
- Lift 51 pounds.
- Climb ladders (all types).
- Completing overhead work for full day assignments.
- Possess good vision (normal or corrected).
- Responsible for securing tools and materials from storage areas to complete their assigned tasks.
- Positively identify colors of wires.
- Comprehends reading and drawing prints and schematics of same.
- Bend conduit by hand with hand benders.
- Must use all power tools, saws, threaders, wire tuggers, hydraulic benders, and knockout punches.
- Operates two (2) handed tools/equipment, cable cutters, hammer drills, compression tools, jack hammers.
- Operate equipment, trenchers, scissor lifts, lift trucks in a safe manner.
- Read and interprets maps, instructional manuals, specifications, work site directions, blue prints and written instructions.
- Electrical – Journeyman.
- Licenses:
Current Driver's License and own transportation (most job sites not served by public transportation). - Education:
High School Graduate, holder of G.E.D., or equivalent training. - Experience:
Has 4 years of previous electrical experience (Preferred 6 years).
