In this job you’ll assist families in crisis through DCFS programs including Family Habilitation Services, Visitation, and Housing. Family Service Specialists provide services that help families comply with court‑ordered program participation and work through difficult situations. Training is provided through the office and on‑the‑job.
Benefits- Pay is $17/HR
- Daily pay available for select positions

- Reimbursement for mileage $0.70/mile
- Work with families in crisis through DCFS and various State contracts
- Prepare written reports and maintain accurate records and court testimony
- Prepare and sign client progress reports on a monthly basis:
- Scheduled dates and units of service
- Specific goals/issues to be addressed for each date of service
- Documentation as to whether each appointment was successful or missed
- Reports of progress for each identified goal
- Recommendations for future service
- Report all child abuse and neglect
- Immediately report any significant events, changes in family circumstances, or unusual incidents involving the client or family members to the supervisor
- Attend all mandated training
- Work directly with families in the home, teaching and demonstrating homemaking skills, parenting skills, anger management, and utilizing effective resources
- Supervised/unsupervised visitation – provide transportation for parent and/or children to and from supervised visitation locations. Observe all interactions of visitation, parent and child behaviors, and redirect according to parenting needs and behaviors
- Help families locate housing throughout the local areas, including public government housing, private rent, or shelter care
- Assist clients with finding jobs and community resources
- Support intact families to prevent placement of children out of the home
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Associate's degree from an accredited institution is required or two years of work experience in social work related to child welfare is required
- Must have a dependable automobile, a valid driver's license, and proof of auto insurance
- Must pass the CANTS background check and other required background checks

Eligible employees and their dependents will be offered medical, hospitalization, vision, and dental benefits through the employer-sponsored minimum essential plan. Employees are also eligible to enroll in the employer-sponsored retirement plan after 6 months of service (21 years of age). Accrued paid time off (up to 40 hours per year, based on hours worked). All DCFS employees, who average a minimum of 25 hours over a three-month period, are eligible for holiday pay benefits.
