PurposeProvide strategic leadership for initiatives in substance misuse and recovery at UT Social Work. Advise the dean and school leadership, coordinate teaching and research programs, and lead efforts to launch and oversee a recovery high school with family support services. Collaborate with faculty, students, community partners, and the Moritz Center for Societal Impact. Represent UT Social Work locally, statewide, and nationally.
ResponsibilitiesConcerning the strategic domain of substance misuse and recovery:
- Advise the dean and school leadership on opportunities and initiatives related to substance misuse and recovery
- Collaborate with leadership, faculty stakeholders, students, and community partners to coordinate and advance teaching, research, and programmatic offerings
- Develop and coordinate programs that link research and teaching within this strategic domain
- Support efforts related to development and fundraising that pertain this strategic domain
- Lead efforts to plan, resource, launch, and oversee a recovery high school as well as wrap around family support services, for which Texas Social Work will serve as the administrative home
- Collaborate with Moritz Center for Societal Impact to advance work related to this domain
- Serve as an ambassador for UT Social Work, locally, state-wide, and nationally
- Master's degree in counseling, social work, student personnel administration or related field.
- 3 years of experience in facilitating substance use and recovery counseling and support groups (particularly in collegiate recovery)
- 3 years of experience in supervision of graduate trainees in counseling, clinical psychology, or a related field
- Experience working in a clinical setting for substance use and recovery, particularly with a college student population.
- Experience with making referrals and collaborating with rehabilitation facilities for alcohol and drug abuse.
- Licensed Professional Counselor, or Licensed Clinical Social Worker, or Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor, in Texas
- Licensed Professional Counselor eligible in Texas.
- Certified Prevention Specialist (CPS).
- Similar certification.
$125,000 + depending on qualifications
Working Conditions- Standard office conditions with the majority of time spent in contact with students, during usual office hours.
- Manual dexterity for typing, writing, standing and reaching, flexibility, body movement for bending, crouching, walking, kneeling and prolonged sitting.
- This position is based in Austin, TX and is required to work on campus.
