Location: Byron

Responsible for providing personal training services to clients and development of an individual training program that fits the needs of the client. Hours are mainly evening and weekends.

Position Description

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum of one certification from the following required: ACE, ACSM, NSCA, AFAA, WITS or NASM.

Must have knowledge of exercise science and an understanding of the benefits of exercising.

Must be able to work a flexible schedule with no guarantee of weekly work hours.

Possess and maintain CPR/AED and First Aid certifications or obtain within three months of employment.

Have good organizational, interpersonal and verbal communication skills.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Develop an individualized training program for individuals who register for personal training.

Perform fitness orientations and fitness assessments/evaluations to clients.

Maintain thorough knowledge of safe operation of all exercise equipment and instruct clients on the correct and safe use of all exercise equipment.

Become knowledgeable in all Byron Park District services and programs and enthusiastically support and promote facility membership.

Provide high quality of customer service in a professional manner when interacting with patrons, program participants and other staff.

Maintain good safety awareness and follow all safety guidelines and procedures.

Follow all Byron Park District policies, procedures and guidelines.

Wear appropriate Byron Park District attire.

Attend meetings and in-service trainings as required.

Complete additional duties as assigned by supervisor.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This position must be able to frequently move about the fitness rooms and PE Center and demonstrate use of equipment and exercises. This position will occasionally move or lift items weighing up to 50 lbs.

ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS

This position will primarily work indoors and may be exposed to dust, odors, cleaning chemicals and varying degrees of temperature and light. This position must take appropriate cautions when handling any objects that may be contaminated with bodily fluids. The noise level of the environment is moderate.

OTHER DEMANDS

This position must have good problem solving skills, be flexible and use good judgment. This position must be able to follow directions, respond calmly to emergencies and work with minimal supervision. This position may feel stress while trying to motivate clients.
