Moreover, you will ensure that internal clients follow correct procurement procedures.
Key Responsibilities
* Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers based on quality, cost, delivery, and other performance criteria.
* Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, managing contracts, negotiations, and supplier performance.
* Develop and maintain a comprehensive vendor list based on project requirements, capabilities, and pre-qualification criteria. Regularly review and update the vendor list to ensure alignment with project needs.
* Conduct pre-qualification assessments to evaluate supplier capabilities, financial stability, safety records, and compliance with relevant regulations. Collaborate with stakeholders to define selection criteria and ensure transparent and fair supplier selection processes.
* Take part in negotiations for framework agreements and contracts with selected suppliers, ensuring favourable terms and conditions.
* Work closely with legal and contract management teams to finalize agreements.
* Collaborate with estimators, project managers, and technical teams to understand project requirements and develop comprehensive procurement plans.
* Contribute to tendering processes, bids, and proposals, providing input on procurement strategies, supplier selection, and cost analysis.
* Coordinate with suppliers to ensure on-time delivery and resolve any supply chain issues.
* Continuously monitor market trends, conduct price analysis, and implement cost-saving initiatives
* Monitor contract compliance, resolve disputes, and implement appropriate contract amendments when necessary.
* Maintain accurate procurement records, including purchase orders, contracts, and supplier performance evaluations. Prepare regular reports on procurement activities, key metrics, savings achieved, and compliance with procurement procedures.
Knowledge
Skills & Qualifications
* CIPS qualified is desirable
* Proven experience working as a Buyer in the Engineering Construction industry, preferably within the UK market.
* Demonstrated experience in sourcing and procuring materials, equipment and services related to modular construction, steelwork, piping, vessels, instrumentation and controls, and engineering services
* Strong knowledge of procurement strategies, tendering processes, and contract management within the construction industry
* Experience in negotiating commercial terms, managing supplier relationships, and monitoring supplier performance
* Familiarity with industry regulations and compliance standards, such as health and safety, environmental regulations and quality management systems
