OverviewPosition Summary: The WIC Program Coordinator is responsible for coordinating various activities of the WIC Program to ensure compliance with State and Federal regulations. This is an on-site, part-time (24 hrs/week) position, where the incumbent will be expected to work 3, 8-hour days between Monday-Friday.
Responsibilities- Essential Functions of the Job:
- WIC Support Services: 90%
- Inventory IT and office equipment following WIC’s policies and procedures
- Oversee the inventory of all breast pump equipment
- Coordinate the diaper program
- Coordinate training activities including CDPH mandatory trainings to ensure compliance with WIC policies
- Collaborate with the Nutrition Education Coordinator and Breastfeeding Coordinator to ensure the Nutrition Services Plan requirements are met
- Order supplies, following WIC’s procurement procedures
- Assist with WIC’s safety plan including conducting ergonomic assessments when needed
- Assist with WIC’s Operation budget
- Other Support Services: 10%
- Participate in program health linkages, referrals and outreach activities
- Receive incoming participant calls, assisting callers as appropriate
- Assist with WIC’s biennial Program Monitoring Visit

Duties and Responsibilities: - Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance programs, safety, environmental and infection control standards
- Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in service meetings and workshops
- Attends meetings as required and participates on committees as directed
- Performs other duties as assigned
Job Requirements
Experience
Required:
- Minimum two years of experience as an administrative assistant or similar role
Education Required:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
Certifications and Licenses
Required:
Verbal and Written Skills Required to Perform the Job:
- Must have excellent English speaking and writing skills
Technical Knowledge and Skills Required to Perform the Job:
- Proficient in MS Office
- Good organizational skills and time management
Equipment Used:
- General office equipment to include personal computer, phones, fax, etc.
Working Conditions and
Physical Requirements:
- This is an on-site, part-time (24hrs/week) position, where the incumbent will be expected to work 3, 8-hour days between Monday-Friday
- Travel to other SYHealth WIC sites may be required
- Prolonged periods of sitting, standing and walking
- Noisy clinic environment with young children and infants
- May require the ability to move up to 20 lbs. with proper equipment
Pre-employment requirements include I-9, physical, positive background and reference check results, complete application, new hire orientation, pre-employment PPDs. Compliance with all mandated vaccinations and all boosters is a term and condition of employment.
