Pay

Monthly Part‑Time Salary: $917.20–$1,127.80

Additional pay adjustments may apply under the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025).

Job Description and Duties

Under the direction of the Food Administrator I/II or the supervision of the Supervising Correctional Cook, the Correctional Supervising Cook supervises and trains staff and inmate‑workers responsible for preparing meals for patients in a correctional health care facility and oversees the preparation and dispensing of therapeutic diets per physician orders. The role ensures compliance with departmental and institutional policies, including Title 15, Department Operations Manual, California Code of Regulations Title 22, Standard Operational Procedures, Diet Manual, California Retail Food Code, and Food & Nutrition Services Manual.

The position also supervises kitchen cleaning, sanitation, and the conduct of inmates, protecting safety of persons and property.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Either: one year of experience in California state service performing the duties of a Cook Specialist II (Correctional Facility) or equivalent; or
  • Two years of supervisory experience over cooks and food service workers with responsibility for overseeing preparation, cooking, and serving of food items; plus
  • Equivalence to completion of the twelfth grade.

A Training and Development (T&D) assignment will not be considered at this time.
