**** Job Description*
* • Performs a variety of routine and specialized diagnostic medical lab tests as requested by healthcare staff according to established protocols and procedures. Prepares specimens for microscopic examination or testing procedures. Operates automated laboratory instrumentation and equipment. Performs quality control and assurance procedures. Records lab results in specified system. Follows all required privacy, safety, and biohazard procedures and standards.
Performs multiple duties in the Fast Flow Laboratory (Laboratory Support Services, Hematology and Chemistry) to include:
• Pre-analytical processing of biological specimens for testing in the Fast Flow Lab.
• Data entry of client demographic information and test orders into the laboratory computer system
• Perform and interpret analysis on clinical specimens submitted for testing.
• Performs quality control and maintenance procedures.
• Evaluate new methodologies.
• Train new personnel/students
• Perform other duties as required.•

Education and Experience:

* • An associate degree in clinical laboratory technology and certification by the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or National Certifying agency (NCA). If not certified, must be registry eligible and successfully obtain certification within the first year of employment.

Ability to exert up to 50 lbs. of force. Examples include:
To transfer a 100 lb. patient that cannot assist in the transfer requires 50 lbs. of force. For every 100 additional pounds, assistance will be required from another healthcare worker. 20 lbs. of force are needed to push a 400 lb. patient in a wheelchair on carpet. 25 lbs. of force are required to push a stretcher with a patient with one hand.
Ability to maintain 20/40 vision, corrected, in one eye or with both eyes. Ability to see and recognize objects close at hand or at a distance. Ability to match or discriminate between colors.
