Overview
Schedules and greets radiology patients. Answers the radiology department phone lines, processes calls to necessary personnel if unable to assist caller. Assembles billing information for interpreting physicians. Works with minimal supervision, reports to the Radiology Director. OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens Class III.
Job Qualifications- Education: High School Graduate or equivalent, business course or some college preferred
- Personal job-related skills: Effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to use or be trained on Radiology computer system. Effective work organization and time management skills. Exam/Diagnosis coding
preferred. Proficient use of Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel. - Licensure, registry or certification: None Required.
- Prior
Work Experience:
Working knowledge of computer operations preferred. Knowledge of
human anatomy preferred. - Technical Training:None Required.
- Physical and Mental Requirements: Duties of the position require intermittent walking, sitting and standing. Some bending, stooping and reaching is required with the lifting of items up to a weight of 20 pounds. The ability to comprehend and follow routine written or verbal instructions.
- Provides administrative support.
- Order entry and charges processing electronically.
- Completes Radiology paperwork in an efficient manner.
- Promptly schedules exams and explains exam preps to patients and/or hospital personnel when required and is very attentive to orders when presented to the department.
- Screens patient for MRI clearance and contrast CT exams.
- Receives calls and dispatches them to the proper areas by way of verbal communications, and/or written communications.
- Uses EMR system to communicate with patient care team including physicians and nurses
- Schedules mammogram exams and confirms available exam rates. Acquires previous exam from 0 turn facilities. Confirms proper exam in accordance with insurance.
- Provides support to all areas of the Radiology Department
- Readies images for check out or mailing.
- Checks supplies for the office and provides the Radiology Director with a listing of supplies needed.
- Assists with basic patient needs and/or alerts technologist of patient inquires.
- Radiology reports.
- Patient information as:
Provides clinical history, the name of the patient, and billing information to the radiologist group in a timely manner. - Answers multi-line telephone.
- Answers and screens calls promptly.
- Routes all incoming calls to the requested party according to departmental procedure.
- Provides clearly written messages to specified employees when a call or transfer cannot be completed.
- All other duties as assigned by the Radiology Department Director.
- Maintains confidentiality while working with confidential matters on a daily basis.
- Adheres to Hamilton Healthcare System’s Behavioral Standards.

- Maintains HIPAA compliance at all times.
- Abides by the Hamilton Healthcare System Personnel Policy and Employee Handbook.
