Overview
Assists Optometrist/Ophthalmologist with patient care by performing preliminary vision tests, gathering patient medical history and conducting diagnostic testing as instructed by Optometrist. Schedules and provides patient instruction for appointments. Assists Optometrist/Ophthalmologist and Clinic Manager
with all other duties as assigned.
- Education: High School Graduate or equivalent, college degree preferred
- Personal job-related skills: Verbal and written communication skills.
- Licensure, registry or certification: None Required.
- Prior
Work Experience:
3-5 years in optometry office setting preferred,
medical office experience preferred. - Technical Training:None Required.
- Physical and Mental Requirements: Duties of the position require intermittent walking, sitting and standing. Some bending, stooping and reaching is required with the lifting of items up to a weight of 20 pounds. The ability to comprehend and follow routine written or verbal instructions.
- Patient Intake-Take medical history, preliminary test on patients and perform diagnostic tests as instructed by Optometrist/Ophthalmologist
- Clinic Assistance-Prepare exam rooms, sanitize room after patient care, and perform daily duties to keep clinic space clean and functional.
- Patient Training-Aid with contact lenses and Training and educate on contact lens care.
- Optical Support-Assist patients with frame and lens selection, make frame adjustments, and be able to make minor repair on eyewear.
- Scheduling Support-Answer phones and schedule appointments as needed to help front desk with overflow of calls.
- Maintains confidentiality while working with confidential matters on a daily basis.
- Adheres to Hamilton Healthcare System’s Behavioral Standards.
- Emulates the customer service expectations for Accountability, Respect, Integrity, Service, and Excellence.
- Maintains HIPAA compliance at all times.
- Abides by the Hamilton Healthcare System Personnel Policy and Employee Handbook.
