Reporting to the Packaging Line Lead and Production Supervisors the Production Labourer is responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to the production and packaging of raw baby leaf lettuce for the preparation of salads. This is a unionized position with UFCW-1518.

• Responsible for the initial washing, sorting and packing of raw baby leaf lettuce
• Opening and distributing raw material from cases and plastic boxes at the wash line
• Cut, weigh, pre-wash and prepare lettuce, vegetables etc.
• Fill lettuce bins, cleaning and preparation for packing
• Distribute bowls, lids, packaging boxes on the various production/packaging lines
• Place salad-topping ingredients manually in the "insert" containers
• Place the insert in the salad kits
• Pack cardboard boxes with salad kits, load boxes on to pallets, wrap pallets for shipping
• Prepare and identify the pallets at the locations intended for shipment
• Ensure implementation of company policies and procedures ensuring compliance with Health and Safety policies and procedures, good manufacturing practices (GMP) and HACCP
• Perform other related duties

• High school diploma is an asset
• Relevant experience in a production, manufacturing or agribusiness environment is an asset
• Able to work in a 4°C environment with allergens present: (dairy, nuts, wheat etc.)
• Ability to work standing in a refrigerated and humid environment completing repetitive work
• Ability to lift loads up to 50 Ibs (some workstations), push heavy loads and climb stairs repeatedly
• Possess a full range of movement: lifting, twisting, bending, reaching
• Be able to communicate well with supervisors and co-workers
• Be able to visually inspect product, packaging and labels for quality and correctness
