JOB SUMMARY

Performs a wide variety of sheet metal operations in the completion of primary and major assemblies involving major component tooling where some judgment is necessary to set up and maintain multiple numbers of parts or assemblies.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Performs assembling operations such as cutting, filing, drilling, countersinking, fitting, shimming, adjusting, clamping, bolting, reaming, riveting, and bucking where locations and other pertinent information is established or predetermined and tolerances, edge margins and hole patterns, etc., are usually controlled by tooling and fixtures.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow blueprints, method sheets, and work instructions.
  • Locates reference points, holes, parts and assemblies from established reference lines or points, transfers hole and rivets pattern within predetermined limits and performs sheet metal assembly work without aid of jigs, fixtures or other tooling when necessary.
  • Uses hand and portable tools such as rivet gun, drill motor, portable dimpling equipment, bucking bars, deburr tools, file, scale, etc.
  • Highly dedicated to meeting customer commitments and incrementally improving the process.
  • Encourages continuous improvement and recommends solutions and implements.
  • Ensure all safety guidelines for procedures and equipment are followed.
  • Demonstrate a positive behavior towards peers, supervision, company and customer and treats all with respect.
  • Must take initiative to implement suggestions for improvement as part of Andon initiative.
  • General supervision needed in order to complete tasks plus additional on the job training required.
  • Needs assistance to find solutions in order to solve problems.
  • Listens to concerns and responds appropriately based on feedback given through the learning curve.
  • Will learn to identify the need for improvements and be open to new ideas.
EDUCATION
  • Must have a high school diploma, an equivalent certificate, or a bronze level Work Keys certification.
  • Requires the use of simple arithmetic, a limited number of measuring instruments and blueprints.
EXPERIENCE

Assembly or fabrication experience is preferred.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Daily tasks are completed without supervision.
  • A self-starter and takes the lead on important projects to completion.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Action oriented and takes on challenges.
  • No instructions needed on routine work and general instructions given on new lines of work or special assignments.
  • Will be required to follow all safety guidelines for procedures and equipment, and actively participate in daily ergonomic stretching exercises.
