Hamilton Island is seeking professional and security-focused Airport Screening Officers to join our team at the Hamilton Island Airport

As a Screening Officer, you'll ensure the safety and security of passengers, staff, and aircraft while delivering exceptional customer service. You'll be responsible for screening passengers and baggage, maintaining sterile areas, and responding to any security threats or incidents in a calm and professional manner.

• Perform security screening of passengers, baggage, and personnel using x-ray equipment, body scanners, metal detectors, and explosive trace detection.
• Manage the flow of passengers efficiently and professionally through security checkpoints.
• Control access to restricted and security-sensitive areas.
• Conduct physical searches of passengers and belongings when required.
• Identify and handle prohibited items, dangerous goods, and security risks.
• Monitor and maintain sterile areas, and report any breaches or suspicious behaviour.
• Uphold exceptional customer service and maintain a calm, approachable presence.
• Assist with managing disruptive behaviour and ensuring safety standards are upheld.

You are a calm, observant, and responsible professional who thrives in a fast-paced, highly regulated environment. You understand the importance of aviation safety and bring a high level of integrity and professionalism to every shift.

• Certificate II in Transport Security Protection (AVI
  20118) OR
• Be currently employed as a Screening Officer with a Certificate II in Security Operations (obtained before Jan 2022)
• Successfully completed the Government Aviation Accreditation Test

• Current Dangerous Goods Qualification
• Eligibility to obtain an Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC)
• Previous experience in a regulated, customer-facing environment
• Excellent communication skills and a calm, friendly approach to customer service
• High personal grooming and professional presentation
• Physical ability to stand for long periods and perform security screening functions
