J.L. Moore is a commercial general contracting and design-build firm located in North Olmsted, Ohio. Founded in 1973, we provide construction services to local, regional, and national clients. As we continue to experience successful growth, we are seeking a highly skilled Project Manager with the experience and passion to lead project teams. This position will be located at our new office in North Olmsted, Ohio.
Job SummaryAs Project Manager you will manage diverse projects including renovations, tenant buildouts, and ground-up construction. Industries we currently serve include restaurant, retail, automotive, healthcare, churches, light industrial, commercial office, and public projects. Typical projects range in size from $250,000 to $10 million.
The successful candidate will be driven to succeed on every project they manage, regardless of its challenges or complexity. This person will be a self-starter and strong problem solver. They will have the necessary level of detail and follow-though required to thrive in a fast paced, results focused environment. A great communicator, this individual will have ultimate responsibility for project success and be the main contact with our clients for all assigned projects.
We are looking for someone who can step right in and take ownership of projects. For this reason, experience managing commercial construction projects is a must.
Key Responsibilities:- Construction Knowledge: A deep understanding of construction processes, construction sequencing of the critical path, materials, and methods is crucial. This will include knowledge of building codes, regulations, and industry standards.
- Project Planning and Scheduling:
Ability to create comprehensive project schedules and set realistic timelines. This involves resource allocation, budgeting, and risk management. - Budget Management:
Monitoring expenses, controlling costs, and ensuring projects remain within budget constraints. - Contract Management:
Experience with contract negotiation, administration, writing comprehensive scopes of work, RFI’s, submittal processing, change orders for subcontractors and clients. - Risk Management:
Skill in identifying potential risks and assessing project vulnerabilities, implementing risk controls, and maintaining contingency plans. - Quality Control:
Ability to maintain high standards of construction quality and ensure compliance with specifications and regulations. - Communication
Skills:
Effective communication with clients, team members, and subcontractors is essential. This includes verbal and written communication, active listening and conflict resolution. - Leadership and Team Management:
Strong leadership skills to motivate and manage project teams using delegation, performance management, and collaboration. - Problem Solving:
Capability to proactively identify issues, analyze alternatives, and implement effective solutions to keep project on track. - Adaptability and Flexibility:
Ability to adjust to changing project demands, unexpected events, and evolving priorities while being responsive to client needs and managing project scope.
- 5 years of experience as a Project Manager in commercial construction.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
- Experience with MS Project, Procore, Smartsheet, and Bluebeam is preferred, but not required.
- Excellent attention to detail with an emphasis placed on quality.
- Clear, accurate, and concise written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines.
- Demonstrated abilities in planning, problem-solving, and decision making.
