Accounts Payable Specialist

Description We are looking for an Accounts Payable Specialist to support invoice processing and vendor account coordination for a long-term contract opportunity in Sugar Creek, Missouri. This position plays an important role in keeping payables activity organized, accurate, and responsive by working across finance, sales, and operations. The ideal candidate is comfortable managing invoice coding, addressing discrepancies, and communicating with internal teams and vendors to keep transactions moving efficiently.

Responsibilities:

- Process vendor invoices by assigning the appropriate general ledger coding and ensuring records are accurately maintained within the financial system.

- Use Smartsheet to monitor invoice workflows, route vendor-related requests, and document issues that require review or follow-up.

- Investigate invoicing discrepancies, gather supporting details, and help drive timely resolution of payment or coding concerns.

- Partner with finance, sales, and operations teams to identify missing invoices, correct classification problems, and clear outstanding items.

- Communicate with vendors to answer questions, resolve open matters, and support accurate account maintenance.

- Prepare vendor maintenance submissions and escalate related concerns through the appropriate review channels.

- Submit invoice adjustments to leadership for approval before entries are finalized in the system. Requirements - Experience in accounts payable or a closely related accounting support role.

- Working knowledge of invoice coding and general ledger allocation.

- Ability to manage vendor invoices with strong attention to accuracy and detail.

- Familiarity with workflow tracking tools such as Smartsheet or similar platforms.

- Experience researching and resolving invoice discrepancies or vendor account issues.

- Strong communication skills for coordinating with vendors and cross-functional internal teams.

- Proficiency with check runs and other core accounts payable processes.
