Job Goal

• To create a flexible elementary grade program and a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth; to establish effective rapport with pupils; to motivate pupils to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for elementary grade education, in accordance with each pupil’s ability; and to establish good relationships with parents and with other staff members.

Performance Responsibilities

• Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
• Identifies pupil needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and removing barriers to learning success.
• Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district and self-selected professional growth activities.
• Participates in curriculum development programs as required.
• To work cooperatively and collaboratively with teachers, administrators, parents, and other staff members in the implementation of instruction.
• Supports classroom instruction.
• To work with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce the learning of materials or skills.
• Assist teachers in monitoring progress and student learning.
• Other duties as assigned.

Terms Of Employment

• Salary and work year to be established by the Board of Education.

Evaluation

• Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy using the Support Staff evaluation.
