Job Description

Priority Substitute Teacher

Qualifications

• Hold a current Missouri Teacher’s Substitute Certification
• Have successfully completed sixty (60) semester hours or more of credit from an accredited U.S. institution, approved by the Missouri Department of Education, and possess good moral character

Reports To

Building Principal

Job Goal

Maintain the educational integrity of the classroom in the absence of permanent teachers.

Performance Responsibilities

• Accept assignments via AESOP or district personnel
• Maintain professionalism
• Follow lesson plans and instructions
• Adhere to schedule
• Provide explanations of work assigned
• Build positive rapport with students, staff, and administrators
• Practice effective classroom management
• Leave classroom clean and organized
• Check student work as needed
• Maintain confidentiality
• Follow district policies and procedures
• Lead students in emergency procedures

Terms of Employment

Positions are nine months long, with salary and work calendar set annually by the Board of Education.

Evaluation

Evaluations conducted by building administrators using the Substitute Teacher Evaluation Form, reviewed by the Substitute Services Office, and maintained in personnel files.

Additional Information

This is an entry-level, full-time position within the Education and Training industry in Primary and Secondary Education.
