Firefighter​/Paramedic - Independence, MO

POSITION SUMMARY

Seeking Firefighter/Paramedic position located in Lake City Army Ammunition Plant, Independence, Missouri. Performs duties in both emergency and non‑emergency situations related to fire protection, emergency medical services, rescue services, hazardous materials response, and emergency management delivery at the plant. As a firefighter/paramedic duties also include emergency medical treatment beyond basic life support that provides advanced life‑saving techniques to the critically ill or injured.

This is a union position.

• Assigned to the Department's Operations Division; firefighters are assigned to an Engine Company or a Rescue Squad vehicle.
• Respond to (but not limited to) fire incidents, emergency medical incidents, fire alarms, hazardous materials incidents, and rescue operations including high angle, confined space, trench, vehicle extrication, and building collapse.
• Follow Centerra Group and FEMS III SOPs/SOGs.
• Inspect vehicles, equipment, and consumables for which they are assigned each duty shift.
• Meet all requirements for the position of firefighter and paramedic, participate in all assigned training and associated duties as a member of the Department's Operations Division, including any/all fire‑ground assignments.

• Basic Life Support Certification
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification
• NIMS ICS 100, 200, 700, 800
• Must be a U.S. citizen (or have proof of legal authorization to work in the United States)
• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Must have completed high school or have GED equivalent
• Must be literate in English
• Valid state driver's license with good driving record

Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions consisting of extreme heat and cold. Must be able to function in extremely difficult circumstances and stressful situations.

May be required to lift and carry awkward items weighing up to 50 lbs. Requires intermittent standing, walking, sitting, squatting, stretching, and bending throughout the workday. Ability to lift heavy objects or persons in the course of rescue; ability to climb ladders, haul hose while wearing required protective clothing/gear; operate extrication equipment.
