Retail Operations Manager – Pet Smart

Pet Smart is looking for a Retail Operations Manager to drive operational excellence in our stores while upholding the company’s vision, mission, values, and strategy. This role manages merchandising and inventory, pet care operations, store opening/closing, associate leadership, financial outcomes, and safety.

• People Leadership: recruit, interview, coach and develop associates; manage complaints; prioritize tasks; ensure compliance; celebrate engagement.
• Overall Store
  
  Experience:
  
  oversee care for store‑owned pets; manage inventory accuracy and pricing; drive merchandising; maintain vendor relationships; support omni‑channel programs; analyze sales trends; uphold store cleanliness and safety; manage opening/closing.
• Expense Management: achieve P&L targets; analyze inventory reports; control labor and supplies; manage store work orders; track metrics.

• 3+ years of retail leadership or experience in a customer‑focused environment.
• Full‑time availability with flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Proficiency in computer applications.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to remain calm under pressure.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

• Oversee up to 3 lead associates and up to 40 non‑leader associates, following Pet Smart policies and procedures.
• Responsible for employment decisions and associate development.

• Stand, walk, climb ladders, handle items; reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, hear; lift up to 50 lb, occasionally more than 100 lb.
• Exposure to moving mechanical parts, pet hair, moderate noise, live animals.
