Civil Project Manager
This role oversees the technical design and delivery of drinking water and wastewater projects, from conceptual design through construction documentation. The Civil Project Manager leads feasibility studies, hydraulic and process modeling, and treatment process design while coordinating closely with project teams and municipal and utility clients. The position offers a direct placement opportunity with potential for contract-to-hire and supports a growing portfolio of water and wastewater infrastructure projects across multiple regions.
Responsibilities
- Assist with leading the technical design and delivery of drinking water and wastewater projects, including permitting, hydraulic modeling, treatment process design, pump stations, pipelines, OA/SCADA integrations, GUDI considerations, headworks, disinfection, residuals management, and nutrient removal as applicable.
- Conceptualize the initial design approach for major phases of large projects, ensuring alignment with project objectives and regulatory requirements.
- Lead and participate in feasibility studies, alternatives analyses, and screening-level designs to evaluate technical solutions and support decision-making.
- Perform sizing, hydraulic modeling, contaminant analyses, and compliance analyses to support design development and regulatory approvals.
- Participate in the preparation of construction drawings, high-level engineering calculations or models, technical specifications, and cost estimates for drinking water and wastewater projects.
- Provide project-specific technical information and guidance to design staff and project managers for incorporation into project specifications and construction drawings.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure that designs for drinking water, sanitary sewer, and water treatment facilities are accurate, constructible, and aligned with client needs.
- Support all aspects of project development, including design, construction coordination, environmental design considerations, budgeting, and administrative project tasks.
- Collaborate with municipalities and utility companies to support the design and development of drinking water and wastewater facilities.
- Utilize design and modeling tools such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, WaterCAD, WaterGEMS, SewerCAD, or similar software to develop and refine project designs.
Essential Skills
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification preferred, with active pursuit of Professional Engineer (P.E.) or equivalent licensure encouraged.
- At least 4+ years of experience in drinking water and/or wastewater engineering, including design, construction, and environmental design.
- Experience managing all aspects of project development, including budgeting and administrative issues related to project delivery.
- Strong understanding of drinking water treatment and wastewater treatment processes.
- Proficiency with hydraulic and process modeling software such as WaterCAD, WaterGEMS, SewerCAD, or similar tools.
- Experience with design software including AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and GIS.
- Technical background in drinking water, sanitary sewer, and water treatment systems.
- Ability to perform hydraulic modeling, contaminant analyses, and compliance analyses to support design and regulatory submissions.
- Solid foundation in civil engineering principles related to water and wastewater infrastructure.
- Capability to prepare construction drawings, engineering calculations, technical specifications, and cost estimates.
