Director of Distribution Operations leads a team of over 70 people including managers, supervisors, and hourly warehouse associates.
Job SummaryResponsible for the operations of the warehouse including effective implementation and use of the WMS system for receiving, put away, replenishment, pick/pack/ship, and all other ancillary processes including light assembly and soap manufacturing. Manage freight/logistics for parcel, LTL and full TL inbound and outbound. Ensure continuous improvement in cost and service levels.
Essential Responsibilities- Improve warehouse processes through analysis and collaboration with leadership and associates.
- Evaluate current work methods and eliminate inefficiencies.
- Lead with a continuous improvement mindset.
- Participate in long‑term business planning at the managerial level.
- Collaborate with department management to develop financial plans.
- Guide associates in daily operations and monitor productivity, safety, service, and quality.
- Provide training, coaching, and feedback to warehouse associates; perform regular evaluations.
- Resolve associate relations issues within the functional area.
- Maintain facilities including maintenance and repair of warehouse equipment and building/property.
- Manage freight/logistics function through carriers and brokers to improve cost and service levels.
- Work with leaders of IT, HR, Customer Service, Marketing, Merchandising, and Supply Chain to identify business needs and solutions.
- 10+ years of experience in a leadership role managing teams in a collaborative approach.
- 5+ years of experience in product distribution and/or manufacturing functions.
- Warehouse operations management experience.
- Experience leveraging systems (ERP, WMS) to improve operations.
- High degree of overall business acumen.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
- Effective data‑based decision‑making and presentation skills.
- Experience developing budgets and writing business plans.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, or Business Administration.
- Walking and standing for long periods of time.
- Sitting at computer workstation for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to bend, squat, and lift up to 35 pounds on an occasional basis.
- Requires full range of body motion.
