Role Description  The Consultant Physician / Intensivist will be responsible for providing comprehensive medical care to inpatients, with a strong focus on critically ill patients in the ICU. Day-to-day responsibilities include clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and ongoing management of patients, as well as supervision of junior medical staff and close coordination with nursing and allied health teams. The role involves monitoring patient progress, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, performing necessary procedures within scope of practice, and ensuring adherence to clinical protocols and patient safety standards.

The Consultant Physician / Intensivist will participate in clinical rounds, multidisciplinary case discussions, and documentation of care in medical records, while supporting quality improvement and infection control initiatives. This is a full-time, on-site role based at DIYAA HOSPITAL in Chikodi.
Qualifications

Advanced clinical expertise in internal medicine and/or critical care, with the ability to manage complex, multi-system conditions and critically ill patients.
Recognized medical degree (MBBS) with relevant postgraduate qualification such as MD / DNB in Medicine, Anesthesia, Pulmonology, or Critical Care, and valid medical council registration.
Proficiency in ICU protocols, ventilator management, hemodynamic monitoring, emergency resuscitation, and use of relevant diagnostic tools and procedures.
Strong clinical decision-making, problem-solving, and prioritization skills in high-pressure and time-sensitive environments.
Effective communication and collaboration abilities for working with multidisciplinary teams, patients, and families, including clear counselling and documentation.
Commitment to ethical medical practice, patient safety, infection control, and adherence to national and hospital guidelines.
Willingness to participate in rotational duties, on-call responsibilities, and continuous medical education, including CME programs and clinical audits.
Experience in a hospital or ICU setting is highly preferred; prior work in semi-urban or rural healthcare environments will be an added advantage.
