About

The Role

The Tennis Coach is responsible for planning and delivering structured tennis coaching sessions for students of various age groups and skill levels. The role focuses on developing technical skills, physical fitness, discipline, and sportsmanship, while ensuring student safety and preparing players for school and inter-school competitions.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct regular tennis coaching sessions for beginners, intermediate, and advanced students.

Teach fundamental and advanced tennis skills including grip, footwork, strokes, serves, volleys, and match play strategies.

Design age-appropriate training drills to improve agility, coordination, endurance, and game awareness.

Identify talented students and provide advanced coaching and competitive exposure.

Ensure safe use of courts, equipment, and training aids.

Monitor students during practice to prevent injuries and promote correct technique.

Enforce the use of proper sports attire and equipment.

Provide basic first aid support when required and follow school safety protocols.

Prepare and coach school tennis teams for inter-house, inter-school, district, and state-level competitions.

Organise and support tennis matches, tournaments, and sports day demonstrations.

Accompany and supervise students during off-campus competitions.

Maintain attendance, performance records, and progress reports of students.

Coordinate with Physical Education staff and school management for scheduling and facilities.

Communicate with parents regarding training schedules and student progress, when required.

Qualifications And Experience

Certification or diploma in Tennis Coaching from a recognised sports authority

Degree or diploma in Physical Education (B.P.Ed / equivalent) preferred

1–3 years of experience as a tennis coach, preferably in a school or sports academy

Experience in coaching children and training players for competitions is desirable

First Aid certification is an advantage

Skills & Competencies

Strong knowledge of tennis rules, techniques, and training methods

Ability to work effectively with children of different age groups

Good communication, motivation, and classroom-management skills

Physically fit, energetic, and disciplined

Passion for sports education and student development
